Vince Vaughn will play a Sgt. in the upcoming WWI movie Hacksaw Ridge from director Mel Gibson.
He’s currently wowing the planet with his against type performance in the second season of True Detective, and now Vince Vaughn has lined up his next project, a part in the Mel Gibson directed Hacksaw Ridge.
Deadline bagged the exclusive of Vaughn’s casting. He now joins the already cast Andrew Garfield and Sam Worthington in the film, a fact-based movie about Desmond Doss, the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
The film is set during WWII, and sees Garfield appear in the lead as Doss. The film sounds like a training story set in a camp, with Vaughn playing the motivational role of Sgt. Howell, a ‘non-commissioned officer from Alabama whose job is to make sure the soldiers are ready for battle.’
The IMDB has a short synopsis:

Shooting will kick off next year for a 2017 release.
Robert Schenkkan and Randall Wallace wrote the script.
