First teaser trailer for Arcade Fire’s ‘The Reflektor Tapes’

AFTRTTHNThere has been some monumental music documentaries recently, from Amy to Cobain: Montage of Heck we’ve dived inside some tragic stories but they’ve also been deeply interesting in how they connect with their music. I love Arcade Fire because they’re exactly this, they’re completely part of the music they play and it’s not just about the songs, their shows are extraordinary as well.

Below we’ve got the first teaser trailer for their first feature film, The Reflektor Tapes, which is coming to cinemas across the globe from September 24th but only for a limited time. Watch the trailer first and then we’ve got a little insight from the band about the process:

We’re told it’s both hugely visual and kaleidoscopic, and I wouldn’t expect anything less. It charts the band’s creative journey as they lay foundations for the album in Jamaica, commence recording sessions in Montreal and play an impromptu gig at a Haitian hotel on the first night of Carnival, before bringing their breath-taking live show to packed arenas in Los Angeles and London. (I happened to see them in Hyde Park and it was stunning). The doc gets deep behind-the-scenes as the band grant unprecedented access, they had this to say:

“There were parts of the Reflektor tour where I think we, Arcade Fire, came the closest in our careers to putting on stage what we imagined in our heads. We were insanely lucky to have Kahlil Joseph documenting from the very beginning.”
