Eva Mendes is reportedly set to return to The Fast and the Furious franchise, reprising her role from the second movie in the series, 2 Fast 2 Furious. We Got This Covered are claiming the exclusive saying that it is a done deal and that she’s already signed on for the return.

The site also says that the current plot of the eighth film actually hinges on her character of agent Monica Fuentes, who will team up with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and the others to take on a new villain in New York City. The site also reports that both Helen Mirren and Jason Statham are still in talks to join the film. Wouldn’t it be cool if Mirren appeared as the Stath’s mother and broke him out of that maximum security cell?

WCTC also says that Universal is looking to cast a young Hispanic actor in the role of a racer with a close relationship to Fuentes with British actor Tommy Hatto (who appeared in Thor: The Dark World and British TV show Skins) potentially in the running.

Fast & Furious 8 will hit cinemas on April 24th, 2017 with Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson already signed on for a new ride.

Fast and the Furious 7, or Furious 7 as it was known in the US, made a huge $1.5 billion for Universal earlier this year from a $190 million budget, and is currently the 4th highest grossing movie of all time.

Eva Mendes last appeared in the Ryan Gosling directed Lost River last year, and looks to have a pretty clear slate ahead of her. Production is likely to start in 2016 on the next ‘Fast’ movie.
