Michael Dougherty’s Christmas horror Krampus gets a poster

Krampus poster: Demonic horror set at Christmas time comes to the screen courtesy of Michael Dougherty.

I must admit that I didn’t know too much about Michael Dougherty‘s upcoming horror Krampus prior to writing this post, but I’m now a little intrigued by the Christmas themed movie from one of the writing talents of the early X-Men movies.

Krampus tells the story of a demon that seeks out naughty people to punish them at Christmas time. It stars Adam Scott, David Koechner, Allison Tolman and Toni Collette and will release in the US and the UK on December 4th, just in time for the holidays. Dougherty has already delivered a great Halloween movie with the brilliant Trick ‘R Treat, and now it looks like he’s going after Christmas in the same twisted way. We can look forward to an Easter set slasher next then?

Dread Central have more juicy synopsis details over at their site:

The horror-comedy tells the story of young Max (Emjay Anthony), who turns his back on Christmas as his dysfunctional family comes together and comically clashes over the holidays. When they accidentally unleash the wrath of Krampus, all hell breaks loose and beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own. Now, the fractured family is forced to unite if they hope to survive.

Check out this superb, folded, retro design poster from Comic-Con, and look out for more coverage of Krampus as that release edges nearer.
