Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight will be scored by Ennio Morricone

Legendary film composer Ennio Morricone will score Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.

The Hateful Eight

Ennio Morricone will officially score Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming western movie The Hateful Eight. Tarantino has, of course, used Morricone’s music in his films before, but his contribution to The Hateful Eight will be his first full, original score for Tarantino, and his first for a western in over 40 years.

Tarantino made the announcement following previewing seven minutes of footage from the movie in the 6,500 capacity Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.

I want to make one announcement that people don’t know yet. It wasn’t for sure, but we just settled it. You guys know that I don’t use an original score in my movies, I kinda take scores from other movies and put ‘em in there. This one, I thought should have an original score. So I’m here to announce that the great Ennio Morricone will be doing the score for The Hateful Eight. He’s writing right now, and recording in Prague in the next couple of weeks.

Morricone’s music was previously used in Kill Bill, Death Proof, and Inglourious Basterds, while an original piece of music by the legendary composer was used in the superb Django Unchained.

We have also just received a new poster for the film, which was also made available from San Diego.

The Hateful Eight stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Channing Tatum, Tim Roth, Bruce Dern, Zoe Bell, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, and Michael Madsen, to name but a few. It will open on Christmas Day Stateside with a UK release slotted for 8th January, 2016.

Here’s that new poster.
