It has been officially confirmed that Ben Affleck will direct and co-write a new Batman movie with DC writer Geoff Johns.
Following some hefty rumours, Ben Affleck will write a brand new stand-alone Batman movie with DC writer Geoff Johns. The news was made official late yesterday as Warner Bros. gear up to give a huge presentation at this year’s San Diego Comic Con on Saturday. Affleck will start work on the Batman movie after he completes Live By Night, a new big-screen adaptation of Dennis Lehane‘s novel of the same name.
We’re not sure when the Batman movie will enter cinemas, as Warners have Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice due next year, along with Suicide Squad, a Justice League movie due the following year, and both The Flash and Aquaman set for 2018. It’s looking a little crowded to say the least.
The rumour is that Batman will be set after the first Justice League movie that Zack Snyder will direct for the studio after Batman V Superman. We’re guessing that you’ll see a stand-alone Batman late 2017/ early 2018, but we’ll confirm that as soon as we get any news.
Warner Brothers will stage their Comic-Con presentation on Saturday, a potential stand-out panel at the show, so check back here over the coming days for further news.
