This is literally just breaking, but not official in any way as yet, though it might be by the end of the day. Heroic Hollywood are reporting that Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will be announced as the director of Star Wars Episode 9 at the Lucasfilm panel at San Diego Comic Con later today.
The news was broken by the legendary El Mayimbe whose previous scoops over at Latino Review have pretty much all confirmed shortly afterwards. The rumour was posted to his new website Heroic Hollywood.
J.J. Abrams will bring Episode 7, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, to cinemas this December with Looper helmer Rian Johnson lined up to helm Episode 8 in 2017.
Trevorrow just made $1.4 billion for Universal for the brilliant Jurassic World.
We’ll try and confirm the news as soon as we can.
