JK Simmons Terminator Genisys sequels talk: J.K. Simmons has apparently signed on for more sequels following this weekend’s big opener, Terminator Genisys.
Some spoilers ahead.
It is quite apparent looking at Terminator Genisys that the filmmakers are looking for more movies in the franchise. If you’ve read my Terminator Genisys review, you’ll know that I was far from impressed with the movie. The movie is an absolute mess that over-complicates, is too CG-heavy, and completely average in every way. The one thing that I will say that it has going for it is that the ending is kind of interesting in that I like that there is now an open-slate for brand new opportunities and storylines, and that we won’t be re-hashing that has come before. I could do without the who Genisys thing however, and Matt Smith‘s underused character.
Another actor that was completely underused in Genisys is J.K. Simmons‘ character O’Brien, but it looks like the actor may have more to do in upcoming sequels, which apparently he’s already signed on for.
The actor spoke to SlashFilm.
“I am signed on, so if there are sequels I will by God be there.”
If anything, we’d love to see Simmons in more movies, and I hope Terminator Genisys makes enough this weekend to provide those sequels, just to see what the filmmakers will do with a new movie.
In other J.K. Simmons news, we stumbled across this fantastic video of the actor’s appearance on Today this week. Seems the Whiplash actor can do a mean Arnold Schwarzenegger impression.
Simmons told the show in his best Austrian accent: “I saw Arnold at a Christmas party after we finished the film, and he was talking about ‘Whiplash’ and how much he’d enjoyed that movie, and I immediately went fishing for a compliment by saying, ‘What did you think of the biceps?'”
Watch the video below. Terminator Genisys is now playing in cinemas worldwide.
