The Office movie: Award-winning comedian Ricky Gervais will reportedly make ‘The Office’ film without the help of his long-time collaborator Stephen Merchant.
Ricky Gervais will reportedly make The Office movie without the help of Stephen Merchant.
The duo worked together on the original TV series, but will not be reuniting for the much-anticipated movie – titled Life On The Road – which is scheduled for release next year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ricky has every right to do a David Brent movie on his own but fans will understandably be gutted to have it confirmed that Stephen is not involved at all.
“Together they created one of the all-time classic TV shows with ‘The Office’, and all their projects as a team have been so well received.”
What’s more, it’s been claimed The Office movie will not feature many of the actors from the original show, such as Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook.
Meanwhile, Ricky revealed recently that the movie will explore the private life of the show’s central character, David Brent.
He said: “I’m so excited that the world will see what David Brent is up to now and where his future lies.
“This film delves much more into his private life than ‘The Office’ ever did, and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man.”
The Office movie will be released in 2016.
