Gambit Rupert Wyatt scoop – English helmer to direct for 20th Century Fox
Rupert Wyatt, who helmed the brilliant The Escapist, before going on to direct big-budget Hollywood blockbusters Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and The Gambler, is being lined up to direct Channing Tatum in the Gambit movie over at Fox. The English director is set to take control of the film for a potential October shoot with Tatum in the lead role.

Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont wrote the treatment for the film, the story for which is being kept under wraps by the studio presently.
Gambit is a fictional superhero heavily associated with the X-Men. The character was created by Claremont and artist Jim Lee and made his full first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #266 (August 1990).
Tatum will next be seen in the comedy/drama/sequel Magic Mike XXL, which is released over the big July 4th weekend. Wyatt is currently prepping IRA TV drama Echo Chamber, for which he directs the pilot.
Tatum, who is clearly excited to have landed a job as a superhero, recently had the following to say about his new character.
“He’s kind of a tortured soul and he’s not a good guy. But he’s not a bad guy, either. He walks his own path. And of course he plays cards and drinks and is a martial-arts badass!”
The actor will co-produce Gambit, along with Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.
Gambit is due in cinemas on October 7, 2016.
