Christopher Lee dead at 93: Iconic actor’s career spanned eight decades and had over 250 film and TV credits to his name.
Legendary film and stage actor Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93. The star of the recent Lord Of The Rings movies and the Star Wars prequels, passed away at London’s Chelsea and Westminster hospital on Sunday morning after suffering respiratory problems and heart failure.
The Guardian are reporting that the decision to release the news days after his passing was based on his wife’s desire to inform family members first. The couple were married for over 50 years.
Lee had over 250 credits to his name including iconic roles in the Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun, the 70s horror movie The Wicker Man and his many turns as Dracula in the Hammer horror movies.
More recent audiences knew Lee for his high-profile roles as Saruman in The Lord Of The Rings, a role he briefly reprised in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. He also appeared in Marin Scorsese’s Hugo, Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, as Jabberwocky in the recent Disney Alice In Wonderland adaptation and as Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels.
Lee’s incomparably career lasted for over 65 years. Our thoughts go out to M. Lee’s family and friends as this sad time. Rest in peace.
