Ron Perlman takes to Twitter to demand ‘Hellboy 3’!

HellboySocial media can act as the perfect conduit for an undiluted celebrity rant. But when imposing actor Ron Perlman decides to pipe up, you’d better take notice.

The star of the Hellboy franchise has always been keen to don the red prosthetics and get in front of director Guillermo del Toro‘s lens once again, but for this comment he’s making no bones about getting a third instalment definitively in the can:

Mike Mignola‘s comic book creation last appeared onscreen in 2008’s The Golden Army. The concept follows the wisecracking demonic hero of the title, who was adopted by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm in the 1940s as a baby and raised to fight for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defence.

The movie adaptations were a dream project for del Toro, though his heaving production slate is just one of the factors that has led to Hellboy III being a long time in the making. Now Perlman is taking the initative, hoping fans will rally behind him to break the internet – like Kim Kardashian‘s rear end, only MUCH bigger!

UPDATED: Perlman’s castmate Doug Jones (who played amphibious boffin Abe Sapien) has chimed in to the debate:

Steve is a journalist and comedian who enjoys American movies of the 70s, Amicus horror compendiums, Doctor Who, Twin Peaks, Naomi Watts and sitting down. His short fiction has been published as part of the Iris Wildthyme range from Obverse Books.
