The Conjuring‘s James Wan has been announced as the director of Warner Bros’ forthcoming Aquaman movie.
Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at the studio, sang the praises of their latest superheroic signing:

The ‘Aquaman’ film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material.[/quote_box_center]
Jason Momoa plays DC Comics’ wettest warrior. Created by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris, the character was the son of a Captain Nemo-esque explorer. His father’s experiences living in Atlantis led to him teaching his offspring how to exist underwater.
How this origin story will translate in his first central big screen appearance (following a role in Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice) remains to be seen. Kurt Johnstad is collaborating on the screenplay with Wan and Snyder produces alongside Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven.
Aquaman splashes down in cinemas in 2018.
