Marvel and Sony Pictures are have narrowed down their search for a director for their planned Spider-Man movie, which is due for release in 2017.
Let’s cut to the chase. The two studios are reportedly looking at Ted Malfi, the director of the brilliant St. Vincent with Bill Murray, Warm Bodies helmer Jonathan Levine, John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, who are about to deliver the Vacation remake over at Warner Brothers, and finally John Watts, who directs the upcoming Kevin Bacon starrer Cop Car.
Apparently Malfi and Levine are at the top of the list, according to Deadline.
The decision will ultimately come down to producers Amy Pascal, Marvel’s Kevin Feige, and Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman, but will have to get their skates on as there is still no casting of any kind on the picture, which bound to be very-effects heavy, and will need an extensive post-production period. The release is under two years away.
We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
