Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart join forces again in a new kind of ‘Adventureland’ – this time with Eisenberg as an ultimate secret agent stoner who unknowingly becomes the ultimate target for the American Government.
Written by Max Landis (Chronicle) and directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X), American Ultra tells the story of 24-hour convenience store clerk Mike (Eisenberg) who, on the eve of proposing to his stoner girlfriend Phoebe (Stewart), is waylaid by a woman called Victoria (Connie Britton) who activates Mike’s killer instincts.
Realising Mike is a liability, the American Government set out to eliminate the stoned cold killer. When Phoebe is kidnapped, Mike turns into a one man killing machine to save her.
The film also stars John Leguizamo, Walter Goggins, Topher Grace and Tony Hale.
American Ultra opens in UK cinemas on August 28.
