With his hands full crafting a sequel for the hugely successful Guardians Of The Galaxy, James Gunn could be forgiven for keeping his head down. Instead the director has taken on producer duties for The Belko Experiment, a horror thriller he first wrote several years ago, now announcing the film’s new cast members on social media.
Having previously announced a role for John Gallagher Jr. (The Newsroom, Short Term 12) in the film, Gunn has now confirmed roles for Tony Goldwyn (Scandal, Divergent), Melonie Diaz (Fruitvale Station) and John C. McGinely. (Scrubs, Platoon), with even more casting news expected soon.
Based in the South American facility of the Belko Company, The Belko Experiment sees a group of employees sealed off at the start of their working day and ordered to kill each other or be killed. Whilst this will undoubtedly lead to a bad day for everyone involved – including Mike Pelk (Gallagher), company C.O.O Barry Norris (Goldwyn) and exec Wendell Dukes (McGinely) – spare a special thought for Diaz’ Dany Wilkins, the new girl at Belko who seems to be in for the worst orientation day ever.
With Wolf Creek’s Greg McLean at the helm,The Belko Experiment is set to begin filming Bogota, Colombia this June.
