Tom Cruise is set to re-team with his ‘Last Samurai’ director Edward Zwick for the follow-up to his extremely successful JACK REACHER adaptation, which was released in 2012. Zwick, along with Marshall Herskovitz, will rewrite the screenplay by Richard Wenk.
The new film will be based on the novel ‘Never Go Back’ by Lee Child, which sees Reacher head back to his old military base in Virginia to take a woman to dinner who is now the commanding officer. By the time he gets there, she has been arrested, and Reacher finds himself being charged with pummeling one guy and fathering a child with a woman. He can’t remember either transgression but gets to the bottom of it with cunning and sometimes brute force.
Christopher McQuarrie directed the first movie, which grossed over $210 million worldwide and he will return to executive produce.
Zwick has a host of critically acclaimed credits to his name, including GLORY, DEFIANCE, BLOOD DIAMOND, and more recently the comedy/ drama LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS.
JACK REACHER 2, or whatever it may be called, is set up over at Paramount Pictures.
