New Details Emerge On ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Not a company known to rest on its laurels, Marvel is already gearing up for their next addition to the MCU – the eagerly anticipated CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Fresh from the phenomenal success of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, Marvel today revealed the official plot synopsis for Captain America’s latest big screen outing:

“Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”

This villain would be none other than the nefarious Baron Zemo, previously confirmed to be being played by the immensely talented Daniel Bruhl (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, RUSH). Further to this, as the new synopsis makes reference to Steve and his ‘new team of Avengers’, Marvel have confirmed the addition of Don Cheadle’s War Machine and Paul Bettany’s The Vision to the cast of CIVIL WAR, alongside Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, making his second foray into the MCU (following his own hugely anticipated solo film this summer).

Rather surprisingly, another late addition to the CIVIL WAR line-up is William Hurt’s General ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, last seen sharing a drink with Tony Stark in a post-credits sting at the end THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

These MCU stalwarts joins the constantly growing ensemble cast that also includes Robert Downey Jr.s Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Sebastian Stan’s The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Frank Grillo’s Crossbones, Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter, and Martin Freeman in a yet to be revealed role.

Returning Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have just started principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, so keep your eyes on The Hollywood News for all your Cap-related news ahead of CIVIL WAR’S May 2016 release date.

Nothing there says the Zemo is the big bad…..just because he’s making an appearance doesn’t mean he’s the primary villain…just like Baron Strucker in the last film.
