Will Poulter To Take On ‘It’s Pennywise?

Will PoulterThe television adaptation was of Stephen King’s It was far from perfect, but you’d be pressed to find anyone more suited to the role of the demonic Pennywise The Clown than Tim Curry. Every Scene with the bizarre and terrifying creation was a memorable one, and so any actor taking on the role for the upcoming cinematic duo of films is going to have their work cut out for them.

So it may come as a surprise that WE’RE THE MILLERS and MAZERUNNER star, Will Poulter, is apparently the frontrunner in final negotiations for the role. Poulter has done nothing but impress since his 2007 debut in SON OF RANBOW, but the 22 year old hasn’t given us anything that would hint at being perfect for an otherworldly clown.

Word comes that Poulter blew away director Cary Fukunaga with his audition, after Fukunaga and New Line had considered older actors for the part, so this all sounds very promising. In fact, it could be the best surprise choice for an evil clown since Heath Ledger as The Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT.

Fukunaga’s IT, scripted by himself, will be split in two, with each film taking part in a specific time period as we follow a group of children who vanquish the crazed paranormal clown, only to then return to their home town as adults, to finish the job.
