‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Roles Revealed

star-wars-vanity-fair-01In the midst of the Star Wars Day excitement yesterday, Vanity Fair released images for the hotly-anticipated STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS confirming some interesting details of cast members roles.

Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz travelled to Pinewood Studios for the magazine’s cover feature, confirming a few rumours and catching some great shots of new characters in the process.

As well as these fantastic images, the accompanying online piece confirmed that Girls star Adam Driver is playing the nefarious Kylo Ren, the hooded bad guy whose custom ‘broadsword’ lightsaber caused much excitement in the original teaser. If his red lightsaber and sinister appearance in the previous footage wasn’t enough to confirm his villainous intent, the accompanying snowtroopers in this image should.

star-wars-vanity-fair-03 We’ve also been given a look at Oscar Isaac as Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, hanging off the side of his dependable X-Wing and, as if that wasn’t enough, we’ve discovered that the role of Lupita Nyong’o will be as Maz Kanata, a CGI-based pirate, brought to the screen using performance capture (as seen in the photo below).

star-wars-vanity-fair-04We’ll look forward to more details on these characters further down the line but with these exciting photos and confirmations, alongside the news of STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII being shot at Pinewood and reports of a Boba Fett spin-off in the works, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is due for release on 18th December 2015.
