Magnolia Pictures have just released the first red band trailer for Sean Baker’s wildly original and energetic feature film TANGERINE.
Shot entirely with an iPhone, the Duplass brothers’ (THE OVERNIGHT, THE SKELETON TWINS) produced film stars newcomers Kitana Kiki Rodriguez and Mya Taylor as two best friends who set out on Christmas Eve to confront Sin-Dee’s (Rodriguez) pimp boyfriend of infidelity whilst she had been in lock up for the last 28 days.
‘Out here, it’s all about our hustle – and that’s it’.
Having just returned to the block after a stint in jail, working girl Sin-Dee and her best friend Alexandra (Taylor) set out to confront Chester (James Ransone) over the scandalous rumour that Chester had been unfaithful to her. Their rip-roaring odyssey leads them through the various sub-cultures of Los Angeles including an Armenian family dealing with their own repercussions of infidelity.
Trashy, exploitative and entirely unique in all the right ways, TANGERINE will surprise you with its unabashed realism at every turn.
Opening to US audiences on July 10, UK audiences may have to wait for TANGERINE as it is yet to be slated for release. In the interim, you can see what the fuss is about in its first trailer below.
