Brooding heartthrob Ryan Phillippe has been ploughing a quiet furrow in recent years. Perhaps best-known for his movie roles in CRUEL INTENTIONS and GOSFORD PARK, it’s been a while since he made a splash on the big screen. However, small screen-wise he’s appeared in Damages and now Secrets & Lies, and if Marvel have their way he could be heading for Netflix.
He is reportedly in the frame to play comic book legend Danny Rand/Iron Fist, the missing piece of the Defenders story arc that’s being built towards via Daredevil, AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter are all shooting in these roles, and it’s thought Phillippe could make them a quartet in time for the forthcoming team-up miniseries.
While he has just taken to Twitter to deny the rumours…
I have no real marvel news other than an upcoming meeting. sorry to disappoint fans thought there was more to it. there is no story there.????

… it’s worth pointing out he is definitely having a meeting with the superhero-centric behemoth to talk about becoming part of the streaming franchise, as the actor revealed during an interview with Howard Stern.
Whether this is in the capacity of a lead part remains to be seen, but a safe bet can be placed that Phillippe is regarded as a serious contender to take the part of Rand, a chi-wielding character with mystical overtones.
