Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE officially started shooting in Montreal, Canada just yesterday with a set dressed up to look like a shopping mall in 1983 – it even had a cinema billing STAR WARS EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI, which Singer proudly stood in front of for a quick Twitter selfie.
Overnight some images have appeared from the set which feature Tye Sheridan as the young Cyclops and Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner as a red-haired Jean Grey. There’s also a very teeny look at Kodi Smit-McPhee’s Nightcrawler (complete with a retro red leather jacket reminiscent of the one that Michael Jackson wore in his ground-breaking Thriller video – which was also released in 1983).
The images were tweeted by a variety of sources, and while not that clear, do give us a look at what the filmmakers are going after in terms of the 80s nostalgia factor – just check out that awesome 80s arcade!

A Twitter user also posted our first look at the character of Jubilee (played by Lana Condor). You can see the likeness between the look they’ve gone for in Apocalypse compared to the original comic book character.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is currently shooting for a May 2016 release with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence et al, returning for a third movie in the prequel series that started with X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
