IT FOLLOWS is probably one of our favourite, and indeed one of the most original movies of 2015 so far, and news reaches us today that its lead actress, Maika Monroe, has joined the cast of Roland Emmerich’s INDEPENDENCE DAY sequel.
Emmerich himself announced the casting news via Twitter earlier on, but didn’t elaborate of the character that the young actress would be playing in the sequel, which is housed over at 20th Century Fox.
I have another addition to announce. The beautiful & talented Maika Monroe is officially signed on 2 the Independence Day Sequel!

Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Vivica A. Fox, Travis Tope, Joey King, Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner are all signed on for the sequel which goes before the cameras later this year for a 2016 release.
The 1996 original headed by then relative newcomer Will Smith (who does not return), made a whopping $817.4 million worldwide upon its release.
