Last month the team behind SUPER TROOPERS took to fundraising site Indie Gogo in order to raise money to make SUPER TROOPERS 2 happen. The Broken Lizard troupe needed $2 million to make the sequel, and that amount was funded in the blink of an eye. The final total was a whopping amount, over double what the film actually needed. However it’s not over yet.
Perks continue to be sold over at the Super Troopers 2 Indie Gogo page, and if $5 million can be raised, then Brian Cox has promised to return as Captain O’Hagan (see the video below). Of course, the whole Broken Lizard gang are back, with Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter.
SUPER TROOPERS is one of my all-time favourite comedies, and I can remember being surprised and enthralled on my first visit to see it at the cinema. I’m now very much a lover of all things BROKEN LIZARD, with CLUB DREAD, BEERFEST, and SLAMMIN’ SALMON all becoming some of my top comedies. Fingers crossed that the long-awaited sequel will live up to expectations.
