Bryan Singer sure loves social media and with a history of using Twitter or Instagram to make announcements, it should come as no surprise to see him at it again.
This time he’s used the latter to break the welcome news that Olivia Munn will be starring as fan-favourite Psylocke in next year’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN

Olivia Munn (The Newsroom’s Sloan Sabbith) has secured the role of Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock AKA Psylocke, a powerful mutant adept at mixing her telekinetic and martial arts skills to deadly effect, even focusing her powers into a ‘psychic knife’ attack.
No details about the character’s role in the film are currently known and it remains to be seen how much of her complicated backstory from the comics – including a superhero brother, an inter-dimensional kidnapping, cybernetic eyes, a body switch and ninja training – will make it to the film.
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will follow-up the hugely successful X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, pitting the titular team up against super-mutant Apocalypse and reuniting the likes of James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast).
The news of Munn’s casting comes days after we were given our first look at artwork for Ben Hardy’s Angel in the movie and, with a whole host of newcomers including Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Lana Condor (Jubilee) already confirmed, it will be interesting to see what other information is released in the coming weeks.
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is due for release on 19th May 2016.
