Meta First Trailer For ‘Scream: The TV Series’

scream_tv_logo

In-keeping with Wes Craven’s SCREAM methodology, the TV Series is taking that 1996 tongue-in-cheek genius and running with it or, to be fair, reintroducing it to a whole new audience.

Scream (TV Series) will premiere in June on MTV and although I actually adore the original and the most recent, it was always a hard franchise to keep going without getting too away of reality. The first trailer here has a few issues for me and not only because it looks like Stab, the spoofed film within a film in SCREAM 2 and onwards, but it appears to be the same film but with a little rehashed, updated relevance – which was done in SCREAM 4. There’s also a strong indication that Ghostface isn’t the same either, which might defeat the point of connection between the literal nature of the title and exactly what it looks like but…yeah…

Anyway, I’m sure I’ll want to watch the first couple but it feels like its got ‘cancelled’ all over it already which would be sad considering the source material , but this will never take away from the awesome achievement from Wes and his team that included Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott and a sterling cast.

There is the input from Dimension TV (The Weinstein Company), so here’s hoping this is just an underwhelming trailer. Oh and the “First rule of remakes, don’t mess with the original!” – But let’s see, hey?

NB: This may, or may not, be the new mask:
