‘Transformers’ – The Future Revealed

Transformers 4

Following four epic instalments from director Michael Bay, you’d think Paramount Pictures would be exhausted over the TRANSFORMERS movie franchise. Yet it seems the studio are keener than ever to press ahead with the announcement of a strategy for the future.

Not only is Bay eyeing a fifth film (after he’s finished latest effort 13 HOURS) but the studio has brought in screenwriter Akiva Goldsman to oversee a hub of scribblers – the thinking behind this “writers’ room” being to develop further sequels and spin-offs, creating a parallel with other lucrative multi-chapter series, notably STAR WARS.

The brand’s key talents – Bay, Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura – are on hand to assist Goldsman with the task of keeping this saga of reconfigured robots fresh. AGE OF EXTINCTION star Mark Wahlberg is expected to return, having previously signed a contract for two more chunks of mechanized mayhem.

Toy giant Hasbro, from whose range the movies sprung, will surely be rubbing their hands at the prospect of the story mushrooming into various entries. And with Paramount and Bay enthusiastic about continuing, it looks like that licence to print money is getting renewed once again.
