Michael Hirst’s series Vikings has been renewed for a fourth instalment by History.
The show, which follows Viking chieftain Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his exploits in the land of ice and snow, has been a hit for the TV channel, gaining generally positive reviews and a firm following.
Vikings is currently airing its third season, so no doubt fans will be pleased to know the sprawling family saga will continue (because let’s face it, there’s nothing worse then a TV series getting axed part way). Filming begins this spring in Ireland.

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
