She’s appeared in several high-profile comedy hits, such as Seinfeld and political posturing farce Veep. But Julia-Louis Dreyfus’s next possible role could see her heading for the mountains and dramatic territory in a remake of last year’s Swedish family nail-biter FORCE MAJEURE.
The original focused on a clan whose lives were disrupted by an avalanche in more ways than one when the patriarch scarpered, leaving his loved ones to cope alone. When he came back, simmering tensions threatened to destroy them all over again.
Having won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes and earned a Golden Globe nod, it isn’t surprising Fox Searchlight want to give the tale the Hollywood treatment. These reimaginings often lead to disaster, but putting Dreyfus in the frame – reportedly as producer in addition to star – may make things interesting. She’s a largely unknown quantity as a straight actress, though attracted good notices for her role alongside the late James Gandolfini in ENOUGH SAID.
If that’s whetted your appetite for some Veep goodness, check out our exclusive Season Three DVD competition here.
