New Poster For ‘Fantastic Four’ Arrives

Having released the first trailer for FANTASTIC FOUR way back in January, things seemed to have quietened down for Josh Trank’s reboot. Eager to see a new big-screen adaptation of the classic Marvel team, I’m happy to report that a new poster has been released.

Well, I say new, we’ve seen it briefly before; it’s the final shot from the trailer, with the titular quartet observing an ominous-looking structure in a barren landscape. With the CHRONICLE director taking the reigns, this new iteration appears to be much darker and grittier in tone than the 2005 version; great news for us, though probably bad news for our heroes.

The poster also shows the group wearing costumes of sorts, though not the familiar sight of their classic outfits. Whilst it makes sense considering the film’s style, I could understand fans being disappointed but worry not! If last week’s statement by Mr Fantastic himself, WHIPLASH’s Miles Teller, are anything to go by, they may don the traditional costumes at some point.

With Simon Kinberg (JUMPER, XMEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) on writing duties, the story is reportedly inspired by the ‘Ultimate Fantastic Four’ comics, seeing the team accidentally teleported to an alternate universe that alters their physical form.

These new-found super powers might come in handy as the team – consisting of Reed Richards, Sue Storm (Kate Mara), Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan) and Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) – take on an unidentified threat, possibly former friend-turned-foe Victor Domashev (Toby Kebbell).

Could the poster release indicate another trailer will be arriving soon? Let’s hope so.

FANTASTIC FOUR is due for release on the 7th August 2015.
