I haven’t been this excited about a TV Show in years and it’s completely unexpected because Chris Carter’s masterful The X-Files have been confirmed by Fox to return for a 6-part run, which is likely to be screened next year. YES.
It’s been 13 years since the beloved show went off the air and although a third film has been rumoured for ages, and both stars have said they were up for it, I don’t think any of us thought we’d see it back on TV so this is amazing news for fans of the unusual brilliance. It was creator Carter himself who revealed that six new stories are on the way in an official statement, saying:
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are already part of cult-classic history and so the return of their iconic Mulder and Scully is definitely a welcome one. Last year I went back to the beginning after a long break and it still looks, feels and comes across impressively. Who can forget the Smoking Man, Skinner, Doggett, Tooms, the Lone Gunmen, Aliens, bees, cameos from people who are top actors now and so, so much more.
The X-Files is set to start filming this summer and although it hasn’t been revealed whether that will be back in Canada or elsewhere, I’ve a feeling they’ll keep it slightly secret in today’s tech-obsessed world to stop spoilers. Well, we can hope right?
Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, we’ll bring you any updated news as we hear it and, oh, to add to your excitement…
