Watch The Chilling First Trailer For Antony Petrou’s British Prison Drama ‘We Are Monster’

I don’t know a great deal about WE ARE MONSTER, a brand new prison film expected in cinemas this May, but judging from the newly released trailer, which I have posted below, we’re in for a bit of a lesson in powerhouse British filmmaking and acting. Newcomer Leeshon Alexander (who also wrote the film) and ZERO DARK THIRTY star Aymen Hamdouchi head up the film, which arrives on VOD and in cinemas this May.

Here’s the synopsis.

We Are Monster is a psychological drama based on the true story of Robert Stewart and his brutal murder of Zahid Mubarek. On 8th February 2000 at Feltham Young Offenders Institute, Stewart, a known violent racist was placed in a cell with Mubarek, a young Asian man due to be released in 6 weeks who had only been convicted of petty theft. Over this six week period, Stewart, with his unbalanced mind and deep seated racist tendencies is allowed, through indifference bordering on institutional culpability, to become the ‘monster’ he always wanted to be. Hours before Mubarek’s release, Stewart murdered him in an unprovoked attack.

Watch the new trailer for the film below. WE ARE MONSTER will be released in cinemas 1st May and available on VOD on 4th May and on DVD from 11th May.
