Jennifer Lawrence is lining up her next project. The Academy Award winning actress, who is currently shooting JOY with director David O’Russell, will work with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg on IT’S WHAT I DO. The film, which is based on photographer Lynsey Addario’s book, It’s What I do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love And War, is set in Afghanistan after the tragic events of 9/11 where the photographer photographed Afghans who suffered during the Taliban regime.
Addario is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who has photographed victims of conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Darfur and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her book was published just last month. The property has landed at Warner Bros. with Spielberg attached after a furious bidding war across Hollywood.
Lawrence will play Addario in the proposed film, which will be produced by Andrew Lazar (AMERICAN SNIPER).
The BBC says that the book also ‘documents her own torment at the hands of loyalist Libyan forces in 2011. She was one of four New York Times journalists captured and subjected to physical abuse over six days during the civil war.’
We have no idea as to where this fits into Spielberg’s schedule as the director has a slew of projects lined up including a new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s THE BFG and a rumoured fifth Indiana Jones movie.
