It may not have Kristen Stewart, but Snow White-related fantasy sequel THE HUNTSMAN is building quite a roster of names, with Jessica Chastain the latest high-profile addition to the cast.
She’ll play an unspecified role alongside Emily Blunt and original stars Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. Hemsworth and Theron return as the title character and Ravenna respectively. Nick Frost was seemingly out of the picture but struck a deal with Universal to reprise his dwarf character Nion – one of two featured in the new film. Toby Jones won’t be returning due to failed negotiations.
Story details have yet to be released but the dark fairy tale adventure follows on from 2012’s SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Rupert Sanders is replaced as director by FX creator Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, and Frank Darabont has written the script. Joe Roth produces.
Chastain is firmly in fantastical territory. Having explored the universe in INTERSTELLAR, she’s headed to Mars for Ridley Scott’s THE MARTIAN before this latest project sees her enter the enchanted forest.
