The 24th Bond Movie ‘Spectre’ Hits Rome

SPECTRE

Following the cold climbs of Austria, Sam Mendes’ production of the latest 007 adventure SPECTRE, has moved on to Italy, and in particular Rome for a five-week shoot. James Bond himself was today pictured with co-star Monica Bellucci against the backdrop of the the Colosseum.

Synopsis: A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Variety have also spilled some details about what’s going to be going down in Italy’s capital during the shoot.

Set designers are at work attaching fake headstones to the museum’s marble colonnade after a religious order known as the Archconfraternity of the Departed vetoed use of the city’s Verano cemetary for a funeral scene.

The five-week Rome shot will also comprise a high-speed chase along the Tiber with one or more cars flying off into the river and James Bond parachuting from a helicopter onto the 15th century Ponte Sisto bridge. Other chases will reportedly be staged inside Rome’s historic center in the cobblestone alleys around the Piazza Navona, near the Trevi Fountain, and in the vicinity of the Vatican, where a Fiat 500 will reportedly get crushed, possibly in a crash with Bond’s Aston Martin DB10. Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, who worked on “Interstellar,” will make ample use of drone shots.

Here’s the images from today’s photo call in Rome. SPECTRE opens in the UK in October, and the US in early November. Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista and Naomie Harris also star.
