The Force Is Strong With Felicity Jones For ‘Star Wars’

Felicity Jones Captain America The Winter Soldier

Gareth Edwards’ standalone STAR WARS movie is starting to take shape – all that was known until recently was the project would focus on a classic franchise character, possibly Boba Fett. Then news emerged that Chris Weitz was on board as writer, replacing Gary Whitta. Now the first big casting decision appears to have been made as Felicity Jones has reportedly entered talks to take the female lead.

Jones’ career currently has the momentum of an Ewok strapped to the Millennium Falcon’s undercarriage, with all eyes on her Oscar nomination for THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING. Getting into the STAR WARS universe would consolidate her rise to the top and put her in the same bracket as other respected young actresses joining the new order, such as Lupita Nyong’o.

She’s beaten other candidates like Rooney Mara to secure Disney and Lucasfilm’s interest. Whether she’ll be at the centre of the action or just supporting the title part remains to be seen. Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are apparently being courted for the main male role.

The as-yet unnamed instalment is charging its lightsabers for December next year.
