One of the surprises from a few years ago was Steven Soderbergh’s quite brilliant male stripper film MAGIC MIKE. Well, there’s a sequel in the works, and it actually arrives in cinemas later this year. Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias all return, though sadly no Matthew McConaughey this time, but the likes of Elizabeth Banks, Amber Heard, Donald Glover, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Strahan are the new members of the cast for the Gregory Jacobs (BEHIND THE CANDELABRA) directed film.
Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
Soderbergh is back in some capacity for this (he acts as executive producer).
We have the first look at the UK poster for the film which you can check out below.
MAGIC MIKE XXL, or MMXXL as it’s referred to in the poster, arrives on July 31st.
