His latest show Gracepoint just got the heave-ho, but former Doctor Who David Tennant is joining the Marvel stable with a role as villain Kilgrave in the A.K.A Jessica Jones TV series. He’s the second TARDIS traveller to go dark for the comic titan, following Karen Gillan in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
Kilgrave is described as a mysterious figure from Jones’ past as a costumed crimefighter. She turned her back on the superhero life to become a private detective but echoes of her spandex-clad days seem destined to follow her around. Krysten Ritter is playing the lead, supported by Mike Colter as Luke Cage.
With a Special Recognition prize bestowed at last week’s National Television Awards and a rumoured part in NBC’s Hannibal, not to mention his continuing success in Gracepoint‘s British counterpart Broadchurch, it looks like Tennant is going from strength to strength on the small screen both sides of the pond. A.K.A Jessica Jones could well be the project that cements his status in the US.
The show will be available through Netflix later in the year.
