The famous Dutch brewer’s slogan may be ‘Open your World’ nowadays but back in 1983, it was much closer to open your wallet.
Based on the famous 1983 kidnapping case of Alfred ‘Freddy’ Heineken who was released on payment of the world’s highest paid ransom (about £34 million), KIDNAPPING MR HEINEKEN tells the story of five childhood friends who pulled off the crime of the century…until they got away with it.
Directed by Daniel Alfredson, the film stars Anthony Hopkins as Freddy Heineken, Sam Worthington as Willem Holleeder, Jim Sturgess as Cor Van Hout, Ryan Kwanten as Jan ‘Cat’ Boellard, Mark van Eeuwen as Frans ‘Spikes’ Meijer, and Thomas Cocquerel as Martin ‘Brakes’ Erkamps.
Although KIDNAPPING MR HEINEKEN opens in the US on March 12th, there’s no word yet on a UK release date. Check out the film’s poster artwork and trailer below, then let us know what you think:
