Premiering as a short film and winning the Short Film Jury Prize at Sundance 2013, WHIPLASH formed into a fully-fledged feature film starring J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller. Damien Chazelle, who wrote the screenplay as well as directing the film, has now become one of the biggest names to watch in 2015. WHIPLASH follows student, Andrew, through his time in a prestigious jazz band conducted by the intimidating and cutthroat Terrence Fletcher, played by Simmons. Simmons’ performance has already won awards and WHIPLASH has been nominated for five Oscars this year including Best Adapted Screenplay. Chazelle is currently directing another musical drama, LA LA LAND, starring Miles Teller and Emma Watson. WHIPLASH is in cinemas now.
