The production of the planned STAR TREK 3 has had more than a few issues since it was announced that Paramount were pushing ahead with the project. Original writer and directer Roberto Orci jumped ship (though will still produce), and then FAST AND FURIOUS helmer Justin Lin soon replaced him. Well, now it seems that the film has a brand new co-writer in the form of Simon Pegg who also plays the role of Scotty in the films.
Pegg is a very talented writer; after all he co-wrote the absolutely brilliant Cornetto trilogy (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, THE WORLD’S END) with Edgar Wright, and the two-series long Spaced for Channel 4. He’ll sit down at the typewriter with fellow scribe Doug Jung (creator of the TV show Dark Blue).
The as yet untitled STAR TREK 3 is housed over at Paramount Pictures and will be once again produced by Bad Robot.
