We know that there’s always tons of STAR WARS rumour news bundling around the internet, but we haven’t heard much from the camp of the Gareth Edwards directed STAR WARS stand-alone movie of late. The film has a release date set for December 16th 2016, and we’ve heard zero in terms of casting news yet. Until now.
Word has broken that there are a whole bunch of actors being screen-tested for the film, all for a potential female lead.
They are: Tatiana Maslany, from TV show Orphan Black, Rooney Mara who is probably best known for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO remake and Felicity Jones who is currently nominated for an Academy Award for her work on THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING.
Obviously we haven’t a clue as to which character any of these actresses could be in line to play as all is purely speculation right now. Testing continues in the US this month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gary Whitta and Simon Kinberg (rumoured) both worked on the screenplay for the film. Edwards directs for Lucasfilm/ Disney.
