We saw the first poster for THE GUNMAN last week and although it basically reminded me of Liam Neeson, I passed over that point, but this new trailer resurfaces those feelings because it’s basically the next step in the TAKEN-style world and, of course, Pierre Morel directed that film and this one!
In terms of the cast it’s pretty darn impressive but the vibe here is something that’s suddenly getting a little tiresome already. This trailer makes it look like a mash-up of TAKEN, THE TRANSPORTER, the BOURNE franchise and other high-octane based movies and although this isn’t always a bad thing, the international trailer shows an awful lot of what to expect.
But saying all this, if you’re a fan of the old-school action – unless they’re mis-selling this completely – then you’ve got Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Jasmine Trinca to enjoy:
THE GUNMAN hits the UK on 20th March.
