Although this first trailer for MAIDAN doesn’t put in a lot of detail of what angle or style the documentary takes, the unsettled and very recent political upheaval in Ukraine demands a look and is sure to be unlike anything else we’ve witnessed on this side of the world barriers.
MAIDAN chronicles a civil uprising against the regime of president Yanukovych which took place in Kiev (Ukraine) in the winter of 2013/14. The film follows the progress of the revolution: from peaceful rallies, half a million strong, in the Maidan square, to the bloody street battles between the protesters and riot police. MAIDAN is a portrait of an awakening nation, rediscovering its identity.
