We’re fans of Noah Baumbach here at THN, he was part of our ‘Noahs You Should Know!‘ series, and so we already eager to hear what his next project was after the excellent FRANCES HA and have only just shared the latest stills for the upcoming WHILE WE’RE YOUNG.
It’s now been reported that Fox Searchlight have acquired his MISTRESS AMERICA, which played the Toronto International Film Festival 2014 and is set to hit Sundance at the end of the month. It stars Greta Gerwig, Lola Kirke, and Michael Chernus. Searchlight had this to say about their purchase:
“Noah’s distinct cinematic voice and keen sense of humor are an ideal fit for what we do at Searchlight. We are thrilled to be working with Noah and Greta and couldn’t be more excited to be taking their new collaboration to audiences.”
It’s an intelligent team-up for both as that Fox team have often backed a lot of great indie projects along the way and it’ll get his work out further into the ether. Here’s your official sypnopsis:
Tracy, a lonely college freshman in New York, is rescued from her solitude by her soon-to-be stepsister Brooke, an adventurous gal about town who entangles her in alluringly mad schemes. Mistress America is a comedy about dream-chasing, score-settling, makeshift families, and cat-stealing.
MISTRESS AMERICA plays at the Sundance Film Festival 2015 and is awaiting a confirmed release date in the USA.
