Can you believe that next month London will host Britain’s answer to the Oscars? Time certainly does fly and on Sunday 8th February Stephen Fry will once more take over our televisions as he hosts the brilliant BAFTA awards. Whilst the vast majority of awards are voted for by a specially selected group of BAFTA members, there is one award that us, the public, can get involved in – the EE Rising Star Award.
Previous winners Eva Green, Tom Hardy and Jame McAvoy have all become household names. It isn’t just winners that go onto have shinning careers though, pretty much every nominee since the award was introduced in 2006 has gone on to produce an exceptional film catalogue. Past Nominees include Eddie Redmayne, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Michael Fassbender, Gemma Arterton, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield and Tom Hiddleston to name but a small few.
So whose turn is it now? Well the announcement has just been made and we can confirm that this years list of hopefuls are:
Jack O’Connell – STARRED UP, ’71, UNBROKEN
Miles Teller – WHIPLASH, DIVERGENT
Margot Robbie – WOLF OF WALL STREET
Gugu Mbatha-Raw – BELLE
Shailene Woodley – THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, DIVERGENT
It’s an interesting lot isn’t it? But who takes your fancy? Once you’ve made your choice head here to cast that all important vote. The winner will be announced during the ceremony on February 8th.
