Help Meeee! New Buzz Around ‘The Fly’ As Comic Book Sequel Announced

the-fly-1986-jeff-goldblum22

Twenty-eight years after director David Cronenberg grossed out the world with his remake of THE FLY, publishers IDW have released details of a follow-up.  Set to fly off the presses (sorry couldn’t resist) in March. The Fly: Outbreak expands the concept of a scientist who accidentally splices his DNA with that of an insect to include a contagion spreading to the outside world. Sort of a Walking Dead vibe by the looks of things. The five part series concerns the son of Seth Brundle (who was memorably played by Jeff Goldblum) as his attempts to cure his own afflictions turn into a national emergency.

There’s already been a movie sequel starring Eric Stoltz as the offspring, though whether or not the book will acknowledge it is unclear. Brandon Seifert and the intriguingly-titled menton3 (I used to know his father, menton2) will write and paint the project. Check out the cover of Issue #1 by Edmiston and Ketner…

The Fly Outbreak

The story stems from the 1958 film, that famously ended with star David Hedison trapped in a spider’s web screaming for his life. Hedison received an unexpected reprise of that scene from Roger Moore, who surprised him with an impersonation during the making of Live And Let Die. Now that is scary.

It would be more plausible for a girl to be the offspring of Seth Brundle.

In “The Lost World Jurassic Park” – Kelly displayed the gymnastic ability of Seth Brundle played Jeff Goldblum. Life did find a way after a near miscarriage Ronnie may have suffered in “The Fly” when Seth pushed her into the teleport.
