Christina Hendricks Hits The ‘Roadies’

Christina Hendricks Mad Men

Cameron Crowe’s Showtime pilot Roadies has received a shot of sass with the news that Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks is joining the cast. She’ll get on the bus alongside Imogen Poots (fast becoming the most ubiquitous name in showbiz) and Luke Wilson in this comedic take on the behind the scenes craziness of a rock tour. Promising territory and one ex-music journo Crowe is no stranger to. He covered similar ground in 2000’s ALMOST FAMOUS. Hendricks will play production manager Shelli, described as “tough, but privately emotional, married to her job… and scary-good at it.”  Not a million miles away from her role as Joan in MM, but no less welcome for it.

Rafe Spall and Keisha Castle-Hughes round off the talent, which is heading to Canada for a shoot early next year. With the roster of names attached this looks likely to go to series, though whether Crowe can get an entire run out of the concept is in the lap of the rock gods. Showtime is also the home of the Twin Peaks revival, another show where Hendricks is surely a shoo-in.
