Cinema workers of the United Kingdom can finally breathe a sigh of relief as EE Orange Wednesdays will end in early 2015. The promotion started all the way back in 2003 enabled Orange customers to purchase two cinema tickets for the price of one every Wednesday. The British public, not know to shy away from a good deal, flocked to the cinemas in their droves, causing sleepless nights for the cinema employees. I myself did several years of cinema work and can honestly say that seeing you were working Wednesdays sent a shiver down your spine. The evening were worse than the days, unless of course it was half-term, then the whole day was chaos.

The deal will come to an end on Wednesday 25th February 2015 so you EE/Orange users still have some time to make the most of the deal. In case you’ve forgotten what to do you just text the word ‘film’ to the number 241, easy. The company issued the following statement over on their website:

In early 2015, 2 for 1 cinema tickets will be coming to an end. It means Wednesday 25 February will be our last day for 2 for 1 cinema tickets and our PizzaExpress offer.

Until then, get your film guides out and make the most of Wednesday night trips to the cinema this winter.

We’ll also be announcing an exciting new offer for all our customers in 2015. We’ll let you know more, but what we can tell you right now is that it will be exclusively for our customers. Watch this space.

The big question that this posses though is will big releases still get a mid-week early release? Also is this the end for the pre-movie Kevin Bacon ad?
